Award Winner - 2006 Legacy of Design: Rising Star 1st Place Kitchen and Rising Star Award of Merit Bathroom As Gibson Gimpel Interior Design’s first official new construction project, this Knox-Henderson area American Craftsman bachelor pad exemplifies the timelessness of historical inspiration. In order to fit in with the historic nature of this Dallas neighborhood, the bungalow style perfectly bridges the client’s need for a masculine, personalized space with the historical context of the area. The space, with its restful earth tones and textures characteristically inspired from nature, creates a relaxing retreat for the client to escape his hectic life. Oak wall strapping provides a unique craftsman trim detail that picks up the wood finish of the cabinets and Stickley-inspired buffet island in the kitchen. Backsplash tiles used historically by Greene and Greene, who inspired the California Craftsman movement of the early 20th century, provide further historic charm for this new build. Warm stained oak continues into the bathroom where the custom copper tub is accented by an exposed copper pipe towel bar underneath the floating oak vanity. Carefully considered details, such as the tin roof and red pop of color with the exterior window trim, complete our Texan interpretation of a classic bungalow.
